105th Bowdish Birthday Bash

Date/Time
Date(s) - February 24, 2024
12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Description

105 years long and still going strong, come celebrate this milestone with the Bowdish Crew on Saturday February 24th.  Charles Bowdish, creator of the animations began this tradition on Christmas Day 1919 for his brother’s wedding, and now we carry it on.

We will be open 11AM to 4 PM and the trains and animations will run from Noon to 3PM.

Meet the Crew and find out how they make 6 trains run at the same time (on different tracks of course!), as well as the animated miniature figures.

The Engineer driving the trains on his iPad is Art Schrecongost. Bill McCracken built many of the miniature model buildings and is the engineer behind many full-scale projects, including our 4WD Twyford Motorcar. The Conductor is Jo Schrecongost. All Aboard and no tickets required! Dale and Susie Krysinski are our new addition to the crew, so come welcome them.

The crew and knowledgeable others will be on hand so you can talk to them about these mini-models and also the building of the replica Twyford.

We showcase new exhibits on Bowdish Birthday every year and one of them is the newly re-designed “KidSpace Gallery,” where kids have fun and learn, so bring the Kids and Grandkids!  Get ready for some mind-blowing illusions – Is what you see and what you think you see the same or not!?!

A new Grande Hall exhibit will be Civil War Photographs of soldiers from the 105th PA Infantry – most of the men were from Jefferson County. This is a private collection of our Civil War Ancestors, some of which have never been publicly displayed or published before.

Our front windows showcase our Winter Exhibits: Winter Village and Winter Wonderland – Old-tyme sledding, skating and skiing!

In addition, we will have re-enactors Ron (a Board Member) and Christina Shrewsbury show off their talents as Civil War Surgeon and Victorian Lady/Musician in the Parlor.

Don’t Miss It!   Admission by Donation.
