Two of our own JCHS members were honored by the Brookville Area High School’s Hall of Fame this past September. Ken Burkett, Executive Director of 15 years, was presented the award for his leadership many achievements and awards, and community service, including:
- Prior Clarion Hospital Regional EMS Director/Dept. Head/Paramedic Instructor and PA Dept. of Health Regional EMS Inspector
- Shaping the History Center into a mini-world class museum
- Award-winning Scripture Rocks Park and History Center exhibits, particularly “Stones N’ Bones” (local, state and national museum awards).
- 2022 Society for American Archaeology and PA Archaeology Lifetime Awards for his work on Parker’s Landing petroglyphs and Fish Basket site, and U.S. Congressional, PA State Senate & House of Representatives Citations and Jefferson & Clarion County Commissioners Awards.
H.C. “Chuck” Taylor was honored for his outstanding athletic ability and career from high school through college, winning gold and silver medals in track and field events at the 1921 World International AAU Games, London. He was later inducted into the Brookville Sports Hall of Fame in 1965.
His career was with the Sandt Company, Brookville, Pennzoil’s 1st oil and gas wholesaler. He received the Dr. Walter Dick Memorial Award for community service. Receiving the award for Mr. Taylor was his son, David Taylor, JCHS Board Member.
